What Is A Cord Of Wood?

big pile of wood 300x200Portions are without a doubt the most important thing when ordering firewood, so understanding the terminology we use is paramount in your buying experience. A cord of wood measures 4’x4’x8′ (4 feet x 4 feet x 8 feet). This means it has a volume of 128 cubic feet from edge to edge of a loose pile. The amount of solid wood however varies depending on how it is stacked, and the size of the pieces. For our firewood it averages about 85 cubic feet of solid wood.

A whole cord of wood? That’s a lot of wood!

You may be asking yourself if you really need that much from your visit or even for the whole season. We totally agree with you, and that’s why we offer partial portions of a full cord of wood.
